Tuesday Preliminary Winners Announced!

Miss Sweetheart of Arkansas Ava Weeks won the Preliminary Talent Award and Miss UCA Kennedy Holland captured the Preliminary Evening Gown Award.  Miss White River Camille Cathey won the Preliminary On-Stage Interview Award and Miss Dogwood Bella Bauer won the Preliminary Health and Fitness Award on Tuesday, the opening night of the 86th Annual Miss Arkansas Competition at Robinson Center in Little Rock.


For winning Talent, Miss Sweetheart of Arkansas Ava Weeks will receive a $2,000 scholarship provided by the Miss Arkansas Crown Club. She performed a vocal to “I Dreamed a Dream.”

 

Miss UCA Kennedy Holland will receive a $1000 scholarship for winning Evening Gown provided by The Royal We.

 

Miss Dogwood Bella Bauer will receive a $500 scholarship for winning Health and Fitness provided by Innovative Claim Services.

 

Miss White River Camille Cathey will receive a $1000 scholarship for winning On-Stage Interview provided by Traci Lewellen in honor of Miss Arkansas 2019/2020 Dr. Darynne Dahlem.

Emcees for this year’s Miss Arkansas Competition are Chris Kane and Miss Arkansas 2009 Sarah Slocum Collins. KARK Morning Show Anchor DJ Williams emceed the On Stage Interview portion of the competition.

 

Ashton Campbell Gill was the emcee for the Miss Arkansas’ Teen Pageant held during the afternoon. She was Miss Arkansas 2014 and 2nd Runner Up to Miss America, as well as Miss Arkansas’ Outstanding Teen 2011. Miss Arkansas 2019/ 2020 Dr. Darynne Dahlem emceed the On Stage Interview portion of the competition.

 

Miss Arkansas 2023 Cori Keller and Miss Arkansas Teen 2023 Allie Bell were on hand to present the awards. Keller was a Top 11 Semi-Finalist at the Miss America Pageant this past January.

 

Preliminary Awards given in this afternoon’s Teen Competition were:

 

·       Preliminary Talent Award - $500 scholarship provided by The Parker Family – Lights of the Delta’s Teen Sophie Puckett. She performed a tap dance to “Blue Suede Shoes” for her talent.

 

·       Preliminary Evening Gown Award -$500 scholarship sponsored by The Royal We: White River’s Teen Kennedy Johnson

 

·       Preliminary Health & Fitness Award - $500 scholarship sponsored by the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Foundation – Dogwood’s Teen Peyton Bolling

Alpha Talent Award, in the amount of $500, given by the Miss Arkansas Executive Directors Association – Sweetheart of Arkansas Ava Weeks

 

Alpha Evening Gown Award, in the amount of $500, given by The Royal We – South Arkansas Stevie St. John

 

Alpha On Stage Interview Award, in the amount of $500, given by Danielle Diemer – Greater Hot Springs Graceanne Morgan

 

Alpha Private Health and Fitness Award, in the amount of the $500, given by Baptist Health – Dogwood Bella Bauer


Alpha Private Interview for the ALPHA Group, in the amount of $1500, given by Kendra Scott at Promenade at Chenal – Ozark Highlands Kassidy Bell 

 

Confidently You Award, in the amount of $500, given by MAGS Trucking – Greater Little Rock Jada Simpson

 

Alpha Arrival Award, in the amount of $500 given by Faces by Stephanie – South Arkansas Stevie St. John

 

Healthy Lifestyle Platform Award, in the amount of $500, given by Sharon Turrentine – Saline County Sophe Sligh

  

Service Above Self Award for ALPHA Group, in the amount of $500 given by the Miss Arkansas Executive Directors Association – Ouachita Baptist University Bailey Gibson

 

Hardin Bale Inspirational Male Scholarship, in the amount of $1000 scholarship, selected by the reigning Miss Arkansas and given by the Miss Arkansas Organization – Brayden Stamper 

 

Additional Miss Arkansas Teen Awards given this afternoon were:

 

STAR Award in Memory of Muriel Cathey – $500 scholarship given by Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen 2018 Camille Cathey and selected by the reigning Miss Arkansas Teen: Carissa Joy Callicott

 

Alpha Arrival Award – $500 scholarship given by MAGS Trucking– Dogwood’s Teen Peyton Bolling

 

Alpha Fitness & Health Award – $500 scholarship sponsored by the Miss Arkansas Executive Directors Organization – Dogwood’s Teen Peyton Bolling

 

Alpha Evening Gown Award – $500 scholarship sponsored by The Royal We: Ozark Highland’s Teen Makayla Harrell

 

Alpha Talent Award – $500 scholarship sponsored by the Miss Arkansas Executive Directors Association – Greater Little Rock’s Teen Presley Bennett. For her talent she performed a tap dance to a Michael Jackson mix.

This year’s Miss Arkansas Scholarship Competition celebrates the 86th Year of the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Competition.  The show features 45 Miss Contestants and 36 Teen contestants from around the state who are competing for over $290,000 in scholarships. Competition continues with preliminaries on Wednesday and Thursday. Miss Arkansas’ Teen preliminaries begin at 3:00 p.m. and Miss begins at 7:00 p.m.

 

The crowning for the new Miss Arkansas Teen will be Friday, June 14th.  The crowning for Miss Arkansas 2024 is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Saturday, June 15th live on KARK / KNWA.
