About the Competition

Contestants in the Miss Arkansas Organization at the state and local level gain experience through participation in interviews, talent performances, public speaking, promoting community service initiatives, and social media interaction. Cash and in-kind educational scholarships are available to all young women who advance to the state competition. To become a Miss Arkansas contestant, you must enter and win a local competition, or apply at the end of competition season to be an At-Large Contestant.

Phases of Competition

The Miss Arkansas Competition is composed of five main phases:
 

  1. Personal Interview with Judges

  2. Health and Fitness

  3. On Stage Conversation

  4. Evening Gown

  5. Talent


Each contestant must have a Community Service Initiative to work with and promote in her year of service.

Age & Residency Reqs

AGE & EDUCATION
Miss contestants must be no older than 28 on September 30, 2026 and no younger than 18 on September 1, 2026
(Per Miss America rules)

 

Contestants that are eighteen years of age may elect to participate in either Miss or Teen competitions.

RESIDENCY
Must fulfill ONE of the following:

  • Must provide proof of residence in the state of the competition for at least 120 consecutive days of residency prior to the date of competition

  • Be enrolled on a full-time basis at an accredited college or university (Full time status as determined by the institution)

  • Be employed on a full-time, in person basis in the state of Arkansas for at least 120 consecutive days prior to the date of competition (Full time employment is a minimum of 40 hours a week)

Additional Requirements

  • Meet character criteria set forth by the Miss America Organization.

  • Be able to meet the time committment and responsibilities as set forth by the local competition and Miss Arkansas.
